Discussion

Wendy gave update from the camp. Totals of $5125-coaches, tshirts, prizes, lunch, $160 sent to Bethel, $75 for St. Francis Scrimmage. MEB camp so far only 7 registered. Need to get word out. Travis will mention at the open gym and Tohm was going to send a mass text to all players.

Classic Tournament Dec. 6 & 7

Discussion

Randy talked to Gary Gave, the flyer is in the book, and teams will be put together from there. He told Gary not all travelling teams are in this tournament due to Elk River tourney the same weekend. We could handle 60-70 teams at one site. Randy did contact MYAS and is waiting for response from them. We need to let Gary know that decision once we have details. Calendar with school has been confirmed with Gwen Poore, we are set for that weekend. Discussed the reality that Gary has to know this is our fundraiser and we have vested interest in ensuring all is set and ready to go for the tournament. We can’t afford for it not to happen. Our desire is to have one location again, let MYAS handle the brackets which allow for easy access for everyone to see the brackets and updates as tournament goes on. We want to work with him to make this a success. Randy will contact him and request he be at the next booster meeting so we can nail down details.

Fundraising Update

Discussion

·      Randy gave update on ARAA program donating to the scoreboard. They requested we submit proposal letter and they will bring up at their next meeting. Randy sent to Lisa the president and we will await response. Doubtful funds are avail. as they are beginning volleyball program and other needs.

·      Randy talked to Carl Youngquist from the Anoka Letterman’s Club possible funding for the scoreboard. They pool all money and give to their scholarships. They have been approached by other sports and this is the same response. They truly support scholarship and that is all.

·      We have no issues with conflict of interest with the advertising ‘box’ that is displayed during games. We can have corporate ad sponsor on the scoreboard.

·      Talked about putting together a letter or speaking points when we approach businesses for support. Joe will tackle putting something together. Also as we go to different businesses we need to tell them we are there because they support our program. Ex. Joe was at Slim’s auto repair and said you get my business because you support our school and the b-ball athletic program. We need to encourage others to do the same.

·      Logistically we need to figure out when this could happen. Discussion around we don’t even know the type of scoreboard we can have, placement, type, size etc. Decision to have Gwen Poore identify a supplier, we need to find out what is available and give proposal on cost, etc. As we begin to ask for funding we know what we are asking for. Realistically this won’t happen this year.

·      Once we have details, we can begin to solicit support. Discussion around area businesses, letter sent to alumni etc.

·      Randy will ask Gwen Poore for supplier of scoreboard and other details she can help us with.

·      Joe will put together speaking to assist with our face to face conversations with area businesses.

·      Randy will provide update from ARAA when they respond to our proposal.

Expenses for the year – We need to confirm with Coach Tohm

Discussion

Wendy brought up the need to connect with Coach and find out his ideas/thoughts for expenses this year. He wanted practice jerseys, need to confirm the coaches in place for the season and $$. Need to confirm: Aldrich-?, Underbakke – 9^th grade, Boline-10^th grade, Debeltz-JV, Vaughn and Tohm-Varsity. Also Tohm has been in contact with others and will confirm. Looking for skills development etc. Assuming tryouts are in Mid-November again. Need to confirm.

·      Need to contact Tohm; no one was identified to do this. Wendy-can you reach out to him and gather this information or ask if he could come to the August meeting with detail?

Discussion of missing information on the Camp registration forms. Gwen will review and add necessary details and bring to meeting so we have set for next year. All that will need finalizing is the dates.
