Discussion

Wendy reported the balance in account. Discussion around the 501C non-profit status so businesses can ‘write off’ donations. Gwen Poore gave update that they can route the donation through the school and then write off is available. Businesses would receive a letter from the school for their donation. Gwen also talked about having the order and payment for the scoreboard to go through the district. It allows for clean transaction and a way to track what the Booster club fundraises for the program.

Fall Leagues

Discussion

Greg gave update on status. Deadline for the MYAS fall league is Sept. 14th. Not many signed up at this point. Verbal yes’ given when Greg connected with kids at open gym but not registered. Coach Tohm will mention in the Thursday after school meeting. Breakdown fall league St. Michael/Albertville-8 players signed up so far. Greg gave coach a flyer to copy and hand out to kids at the Thursday meeting. Discussion around the MEB camp turnout was very low. How to generate interest in kids not playing fall sport? Discussed making it requirement for players to join the fall leagues, talked about scholarships made available if in talking with players coach finds financial need etc.

Scoreboard update

Discussion

Paul is actively pursuing donations for the scoreboard. Has talked with a few donors but nothing confirmed yet.  Randy said he will continue to receive updates from Paul.

Classic Tournament

Discussion

Randy talked with Gary again about the tournament. Our concerns with having two sites, making sure we fill the teams so we can keep the growth happening. Reiterated it is the Boosters tournament and we are there to help him however we can. We do have Fred Moore available to us. Thank you Coach Tohm for your help in getting that site. Need to be sure communication is open between us and Gary to ensure a smooth tournament. Discussed the need for brackets to be available online. Greg updated that our website cost to do this is costly and decided we will post the brackets on our site and will tell Gary that we need to have at minimum 1 week ahead.

Randy-maybe just connect with Gary again to confirm our request about having brackets completed 1 week ahead so Greg can post on website.

Basketball (Game) Programs

Discussion

Joe is asking we talk to the same sponsors we had last year. The donations covered the cost of the program. Each booster member took a name or two to ask for confirmation of donation again this year. We also talked about placing sponsor names on our website for added benefit to the business. As you talk with the sponsor indicate if they purchase ½ or full page ad in the program we will include their name on our site as a sponsor. Make sure you know what the business purchased last year so you can have appropriate conversation with them. Businesses can send check/payment to Joe or if they can give you check up front you can bring to next meeting. Checks should be made out to Anoka High School Boys Basketball Boosters.

All members talk with sponsors as soon as possible to receive the donation for program. Donations can be sent to Joe.

Open Gym and Skills Clinics

Discussion

Coach Tohm talked about having skills sessions avail. Tuesdays/Saturdays for the players. $50 and will be specific to our offense. Also looking to have open gym time on Thursdays. More info. to come.
