Registration is closed for the Breakdown Sports fall league. If players are still interested they need to contact Coach Tohm for possible sub list and required to pay per game on site. Waiting for 2-3 players to pay yet, teams will still be ok if they turn out not playing. Scholarships are available but need to talk to Coach Tohm. Self-run games-players will choose a captain for their team and they monitor subs/in and out etc. Schedule for the games on Sunday Oct. 19th will be posted Monday Night 10/13.

Scoreboard update-Paul Hillborn

Discussion

So far has $6500 committed. Not sure funds will be raised to have scoreboard in place for this season but not counting it out. Still trying to actively make it happen soon. Looking to connect/confirm with other sports boosters to ask for any funds they can give. Still some possible donors left to pursue. Gave details on who has been contacted, gave other ideas on how the players could fund raise. Paul was asked by Randy to give presentation to the ARAA youth program basketball parents at their next meeting. Paul Lombard requested….hoping to engage them as well. Joe brought up selling t-shirts, players sell 10 t-shirts to friends at school, family that would come to games-Super Fan shirt. Set price for the t-shirts way to fund raise within the team. Girls program is doing, Joe will confirm with Curt Slater that yes we are a go to do as well. Discussion around how we could throughout the season incorporate different events during half time for those wearing their shirts etc. A way to get fans to the games and keep them engaged and additional way to raise funds throughout the year.

Action Item(s)

Joe will confirm with Curt that we will participate

Agenda Item

Classic Tournament-Randy Doppler

Discussion

Update from Gary Gave, he has 90+ teams so far. We have Fred Moore and the High School for sites. Gary is requesting a third site due to the number of teams. Board agreed that at this point for this year we will only commit to two sites. Not enough people to volunteer at three sites, cost to fill another site with trainer, gym fees, concessions it just is not cost effective with what we have to work with. Randy will let Gary know our decision. There is a concert on Friday night at the high school just as in past years and one on Sunday afternoon we need to remember and know parking will be full. Asked for Randy to have Coach Tohm find out if Fred Moore is available on Friday night in case we need to have games start that night due to number of teams and potential size of tournament. We may have to go longer on Saturday and Sunday to make it work. Board members all discussed and are in agreement this will be needed if we have large number of teams as indicated. Joe will put together a spreadsheet for us to use at the parent meeting to have parents sign up for hours to work the tournament.

Action Item(s)

Randy to contact Gary to let him know 2 sites only. Joe to create spreadsheet of volunteer hours for parent sign-up sheet at the upcoming parent meeting.

Agenda Item

Basketball (Game) Programs-Joe Laudenbach

Discussion

We have received a few sponsors and some have paid already. If invoice is needed contact Wendy she can email to you. Printing will be done the same as last year through Anoka Hennepin district print office. Very easy, they do set up and take care of most of the layout etc.. Joe has all of the detail on what was done last year. Contact him if questions on who you are to contact for ads, etc.

Action Item(s)

Contact the sponsor(s) you signed up for, try to get detail to Joe as soon as possible. Just so we have ready to go!

Agenda Item

Host MYAS Tournament? – Greg Lohse

Discussion

Another way to fund raise as we discussed earlier is to host MYAS tournaments at our school. They provide the teams and do all of the logistics for the games etc. We provide the gym space, concessions, gate volunteers etc. and we keep the funds raised at concessions and gate. We would have to hire custodial services etc. but another way to keep in mind we could raise funds.

Action Item(s)

None – just remember this option for spring or fall next year

Agenda Item

Practice Jerseys/Uniform-Coach Tohm

Discussion

Jerseys have been ordered, they will be reversible with numbers on both sides. Ordered through Tornado Alley.  $25 each-ordered 30. To ensure jerseys/uniforms are returned coach will collect all at the last game-he will have them cleaned. Easier to just collect right then and there. Coach talked to Tornado Alley about adding numbers on the other practice jerseys ($5/each) so each team will have a set of them, players will not keep the practice jersey.

Coaches Clinic-Coach Tohm

Discussion

There is an upcoming coach’s clinic with Richard Pitino and others that will be held October 31 –November 1, for high school coaches. $110 per coach. Can get discount if registering by October 17. Coach asked if we could fund, we put a cap of $550 so if more than 3 are available he could register them. So far 2 besides Coach Tohm have expressed interest in going. Board approved.

Action Item(s)

Coach will register to get the discount.

Parent Meeting-Randy Doppler/Joe Laudenbach

Discussion

Upcoming parent meeting we have a lot to prepare and have ready for that night! Joe has electronic files of forms used last year (Player profile for program, Photo release, Parent/Player contact form, Player tribute for parents, sign up for concessions, sign up for Classic Tournament, apparel forms). Tornado Alley we decided will be the apparel supplier-they have order forms we will need to have available that night. We need to find out dates we have to supply volunteers for concessions (Randy will confirm with Coach Tohm), also sign up for the Classic Tournament volunteer slots (as mentioned above, Joe will create spreadsheet once we have team confirmed, etc.) Decision to have special booster meeting to pull together player/parent packets, ensure we have flow/set up for the gym that night-decide flow/structure etc. Efficient use of time will be appreciated by parents so they know what is needed for them to do that night, not feel like it is time wasted but efficient and no questions as to commitments for tournament and concession volunteers-not an option, we need everyone to help make success.

Action Item(s)

Randy will ask Tohm about Concession dates.

ALSO: Special Meeting @ Laudenbach’s on Sunday October 26th 6:00pm!
