Some receipts still coming in for the tournament. A couple checks I need to refund for C teams that Gary said were unable to come, High school invoice not received yet, Trainers need to pay. When the board transitions over, we will add another person to the checkbook and account so Wendy is not only person listed. Best practice and protects all involved, safeguards and so two people are in on the deposits expenditures etc. Gave Gwen check for assistant coaches pay tonight during meeting. Asked Tohm to provide list of what upcoming expenses are anticipated.

Program Update – Joe Laudenbach

Discussion

Programs are done and printed. Will be available at the next home game (Tuesday 1-13). GREAT job Joe!! A ton of work and it looks fabulous!! Will pull out 1 per player to ensure they receive a copy. Discussion on bringing any leftover programs to the banquet.

Coaches vs Cancer – Joe Laudenbach & Kerry Sutton

Discussion

Goal is to fill the stands for this event. Anoka Youth invited and will place youth players around perimeter of court so when Varsity team comes out they can high five as they start their warm up! Generate energy! Not about raising money but to raise awareness with childhood cancer. T-shirts are golden yellow for Childhood cancer. Logo design will be used on t-shirts, posters and possibly cinch bags to use in raffle. T-shirts will be available to order online and pay online. Pick up the night of the game or at Tornado Alley. Website order site will be available. All who wear t-shirt will get free admission to the game, also MORP dressed up students will get free admission-working with DECA to see if they can encourage go to the game then to the dance. 76 second bucket challenge will be done again. Raffle tickets will be avail. to purchase that night, nice prize giveaways-Timberwolves tickets, Beats headphones, BOSE speakers, MOA prize pack, Lift tickets Wild Mountain, Rum River Golf etc. Refreshments served after the game, players sign posters for youth players. Looking into having student speaker who is currently battling this disease-Gwen Poore will connect and route counselors to us to confirm. Pep band will be there for the game-Paula will confirm. Showlaces and t-shirts will be provided to the players –Randy will check with Elk River to see if they want to participate with players etc. Educational materials will be available from American Cancer Society-Mady will be the representative. Joe and Kerry will look for help with volunteers as needed.

Scoreboard – Paul Hillborn

Set at this point to have installed and ready to ‘unveil’ at the Friday Feb. 6th game-yes same night as Coaches vs. Cancer. Cool to have so much going on that night and hopefully a full house to watch the game and participate in these two key events! THANK YOU PAUL AND GWEN POORE FOR YOUR EXTRA EFFORTS TO MAKE THIS WORK!!! Mural is on track to be ready that same night. Hoping to cover and have an ‘unveiling’ Gwen will do the honors. Also to have the three main sponsors for the scoreboard on the floor with her. Gwen will contact the other booster clubs to invite them to this event. The scoreboard/mural unveiling is not just a basketball event it is something for all activities and the entire school. Hoping to generate enthusiasm and a huge upgrade to our facility!

Bemidji Game – Randy Doppler

Discussion

Saturday leaving around 7 or 8am. Have time at the gym for warm-up, shoot around. Tohm looking at using the high school up there.  Coach bus being rented; provide snacks, breakfast, lunch and supper. Kris Doppler looking into restaurants that can house the teams up there in Bemidji ahead of time so they can have reservation of sorts. Varsity/JV and Sophomores will be going. Backup plan for bad weather-not to go at all if storms in sight, if something happens up there, Tohm to have Wendy Bengstons number to contact if money needed. Discussed options so all are aware just in case.

Halftime Activities – Paula Lohse

Jan. 24th adding basketball toss, prizes – Paul Hillborn to bring basketball bag, Wendy to purchase some gift cards. Paula distributed schedule of events for upcoming games. Decided not to have activity during the Moorhead game. Daytime game not sure many will attend outside of families of players.

National Anthem

Discussion

Paul Hillborn mentioned the fantastic recording Centennial had for the anthem. Accapella quartet, look into getting something similar for our recording when live musicians are not available.

Banquet- Paula Lohse

Discussion

Date is March 9th School cafeteria and Auditorium are reserved. Looking to pay for player and 2 family members hopefully we will have good response. Additional family members welcome but would pay $10 per person. Create an RSVP on the website. WE want to track who has responded and who is coming, have to pay per person to the caterer. Looking at Acapulco. Decorations etc. discussed-centerpieces, balloons, the ‘tornado’ to be in the cafeteria and them move to the auditorium? Not sure who has? Create printed invite also email to parents and post on website. Coach to handle ordering awards. Gwen will send a save the date invite to all parents via email.

Sticky pads – for players to step on to clean off shoes, make “sticky”, Cage for basketballs looked online at one-coach will order on creditcard and get reimbursed. White boards were purchased, Discussion about court floor-something over the summer we could help fund to make better surface-coach mentioned purchasing cleaning mop-6ft mop that cleans off floor before the start of any games. Not sure if we can do between games but his thought is they just need to be cleaned better and then sweeping in between will help, now it doesn’t do much because they are dirty. Fastdraw for coaches to use with players x’s o’s etc.

Each team to receive set amount to have ‘team party’ team building event. Not able to stay at Bemidji so teams can do something around here-ideas were Timberwolves game, bowling, pizza outing etc. leave it up to the teams as to what they want to do?

Senior Night/Parent Night

Blankets for seniors, Jill has purchased the fleece and received quote for embroidery. She has offered to tie the blankets. Thank you notes from senior players to parents, Jill will pull from remaining cards and/or make/purchase cards. Cookies and Punch for reception after the game in the back gym. Players will be announced and Bill Leach will give bio on each senior (Gwen will give to Seniors at the meal Thursday or early next week) as they walk to center court with parent/guardian. Sally Lombard will take pictures. Flowers or button corsage for the moms.  Ordering senior posters from DoAll printing, they need 4-5 days lead time. Also they are doing the embroidery for the blankets.

After Practice Meals

January 15th Thursday this week, pulled BBQ pork sandwiches, mac’n cheese, bars, water. Meet in the cafeteria not the back gym…also at the meal Kris and Gwen L. will let the players know about meal choices for Bemidji and have them place orders so Kris can submit to restaurant ahead of time. We are also looking at providing lunch meal on Saturday Feb. 21st after practice or during film? Looking into Chick-Fil-a sandwiches. Kris will update at next meeting to confirm. Also Kerry Sutton mentioned a contact she has with Maple Grove Chick-Fil-A.

Coach to remind players to go to the cafeteria on Thursday this week as soon as practice is over so they can eat.
